Animal Care Volunteer
* Hightail Horse Rescue is in need of individuals, families, older adults, small groups (2-6), and youth – minimum age of 13 years old – to help with daily chores and animal care. Responsibilities include stall cleaning, barn cleaning, feeding, yard and grounds cleaning and upkeep, grooming, and basic animal care of all types. Chores run from 9am to 1 or 2pm; evening chores from 4pm to 7pm every day. If needed, hours can be adjusted somewhat to accommodate.
Helpful Shopper Volunteer
Dorothy Day Food Pantry is in need of volunteers to accompany family members as they shop and make food selections at the pantry. Available hours are: Tuesday and Thursday afternoons from 1:00pm-3:00pm and Monday and Wednesday evenings from 6:15pm-8:15pm.

Clay County 4-H is in need of individuals, older adults and small groups (2-6) to mentor and work with at-risk youth in a program that develops youth leadership and service learning skills and opportunities. Mentors who can commit to the weekly schedule consistently are desired to develop strong consistent relationships with youths. Mentors will help kids in the 4th and 6th grade. Help is needed at Horizon Middle school for homework help on Mondays 9-10am, 10-11am and Fridays 9-10am. B.O.Y.S, /G.I.R.L.S on Tuesdays from 8am-9am. 4-H Afterschool Volunteers
* Clay County 4-H is in need of individuals, older adults and youth-minimum age of 14 years old, to lead youth through 4-H curriculum which consist of exploratory and experimental topics and activities. Curriculum and training is provided. Program is available to K-6 students in Clay county Elementary Schools. All sessions start when school lets out and ends at 5pm. Barnesville sessions are Wednesdays: March 20th and 27th, April 3rd, 10th, 17th and 24th. Ulen-Hitterdal sessions are Thursdays: March 21st, April 4th, 11th, 18th, 25th, and May 2nd.
Thrift Store Volunteer
Family Life Thrift Store is in need of volunteers of all ages – individuals, families and groups – to help with sorting and tagging donations, straightening books and toys, hanging and tagging clothing, adding merchandise to selling floor, dusting, vacuuming and bagging merchandise for customers. Hours are: Monday through Friday 9am to 7pm, Saturdays 9am to 6pm, and Sundays noon to 5pm. Stop in the store and check in with staff. You will be trained and have a great time serving the community.
Sheltering Churches Volunteers
The local shelters and churches need assistance to provide overflow shelter for people who are homeless. Volunteers are needed to get the temporary church shelter ready for the evening by hosting, putting down mattresses, cleaning, and so forth. The ALS Association, MN/ND/SD Chapter is in need of individuals at least 18 years or older to volunteer. Responsibilities for this position include playing an important role of reducing stress and increasing the quality of life for a person with ALS, commonly known as Lou Gehrig’s Disease, by helping with household chores such as: cleaning, errands, gardening, light maintenance, meals, pet care, scrap booking, snow removal, yard work, and visiting. Big Brothers Big Sister of the Village Family Service Center is looking for individuals to start something for a child! There are many boys in need of a Big Brother in the Fargo-Moorhead community. Big Brothers Big Sisters is looking for male volunteers for its community-based and school-based programs. Volunteers spend time one-on-one with a child participating in a variety of activities. School-based volunteers meet for one hour each week at the school, over lunch or after school. Community-based volunteers meet with their child for a minimum of 2 hours at least every other week. Volunteers are asked to make a one year commitment.

This would include sitting with children at meal times, reading stories, and interacting with children during free play. There are several locations in Fargo and West Fargo. Hours would be 8:30am-3:30pm Monday through Friday. This is an ongoing volunteer opportunity and flexible with times of day the volunteer is available.
Senior Companion Program Volunteer
Tri-Valley Opportunity Council is in need of individuals and older adults to help other seniors who need assistance with daily activities such as grocery shopping, helping to get to medical appointments, or just visiting. Time asked is 15-40 hours weekly with stipend: holiday, sick, vacation, and other benefits available. Location of need is in the area where you reside.

4 Luv of Dog Rescue is in need of individuals, older adults, and families to temporarily house a dog until it finds a forever home. Responsibilities include providing care and basic training as needed for the dog. The Rescue provides all supplies, food, and vet care. Volunteers are needed to provide the home and the love. Volunteer chooses when to accept a dog and cares for it continuously until adopted or other living arrangements are made.
4 Luv of Dog Rescue Building Team
4 Luv of Dog Rescue is seeking individuals to exercise, feed, and care for dogs (of varying sizes and temperaments) that are housed at the 4 Luv of Dogs Rescue building and assist with basic maintenance and cleaning of the kennel area. Volunteers can choose shift date and time. There are morning, afternoon, and evening shifts available every day, 7 days a week. Shifts are 1-2 hours. Volunteers can work in pairs and are requested to commit to 2 shifts per month. Building is located in Moorhead.
Youth Court Volunteer
Lutheran Social Services of North Dakota is in need of mature and responsible youth volunteers between the ages of 13 and 18 for Youth Court. Youth Court is an alternative to formal court proceedings for youth who have been charged with an offense or are showing concerning behavior. As a Youth Court volunteer, you will participate in decisions that help your community, learn about the court system, gain valuable experience that can be used on college applications, serve as a positive role model, meet new friends, and help your peers repair the harm that they have caused. All volunteers must go through a 1 hour orientation prior to serving as a jury member on Youth Court. Youth Court hearings are every Thursday from 4pm-6pm at North Dakota State University Criminal Justice and Public Policy building (1616 12th Ave N, Fargo). Volunteers are asked to commit to attending 2 times a month but flexibility is offered on which dates you are able to participate.

Center for Avian Adoption, Rescue, and Education (C.A.A.R.E.) is seeking individuals 16 and older, families, older adults, and small groups to volunteer at the shelter. Responsibilities are changing food, water, papers, general shelter cleaning assistance for parrot shelter, assist in Avian supply warehouse, and play with the parrots. The shelter location is 2202 2nd Ave. E, West Fargo. Volunteers may set their own days and hours.
Customer Service Assistant
Lake Agassiz Habitat for Humanity ReStore is in need of volunteers to provide customer service to ReStore customers at the front counter. Duties include: cashiering, answering phones, greeting, and answering questions. Other duties may also include pricing, cleaning, and organizational projects throughout the store. Individuals, older adults, and youth with a minimum age of 18 are needed for shifts (4 hours minimum per week) at ReStore from 10am-6pm weekdays (except Wednesdays and Thursdays from 10am-2pm) and 10am-4pm on Saturdays. Donations Pick-Up Assistant
Lake Agassiz Habitat for Humanity ReStore is in need of volunteers. Duties are to assist Donations Coordinator on weekly donation pick-ups in the Fargo-Moorhead community. This would include loading and unloading of donations, navigation of route, and driving of ReStore truck if eligible. Knowledge of Fargo-Moorhead area and a positive attitude is highly recommended. Donation pick-ups currently take place on Thursdays from 8am-5pm. Minimum of a 4 hour shift commitment is requested. The truck leaves from Restore, located at 210 N 11th St., Moorhead, MN.
Lake Agassiz Habitat for Humanity ReStore is seeking individuals, small groups, and youth at least 18 years or older to volunteer. Volunteers will assist ReStore staff at processing materials donated to the ReStore, which include unloading, cleaning, and testing. Volunteers will also assist with deconstruction projects as they come up. Deconstruction is the process by which Habitat ReStore removes fixtures, cabinets, and other usable home improvement materials from a property that will either be renovated or demolished. Materials are then sold in the ReStore to benefit Habitat for Humanity. Crew members would help to deconstruct the property, which requires the ability to lift heavy objects, basic knowledge of tools, and interest in labor-intensive fun. Warehouse volunteers are needed weekly for a 2–4 hour shift anytime from 10am-6pm, Monday through Friday, or 10am-4pm on Saturdays. Deconstruction projects will take place during this time frame as well as when they are scheduled. Volunteers will work at Habitat Restore located at 210 11th St. N, Moorhead, MN.
Medical Escort Volunteer
Rosewood on Broadway is in need of individuals and older adults to escort residents to medical appointments. The Volunteer will wait in the waiting room while resident is in with the doctor. There is a bus or van that takes the resident and volunteer to and from the appointment.
Lutheran Social Services of North Dakota, Minot, ND is looking for Senior Companions. This opportunity is to provide regularly scheduled visits to older adults who need some assistance to maintain their highest degree of independence. Adults age 55 or older are encouraged to consider this opportunity. Volunteers are given a small tax-free stipend for hours volunteered.

Valley Senior Services is in need of volunteers to assist with Meals on Wheels Delivery in West Fargo. Volunteers deliver the meals to homebound elderly in our community. Meals are delivered for the noon meal Monday through Friday out of the West Fargo high-rise. It is about a one hour time commitment each week.
