Celtic Festival

Fargo Park District is in need of individuals, families, small and large groups (2-30), older adults and youth-minimum age of 14 years old-to assist children with various arts & craft projects including Celtic shields, greeting cards, Celtic knots and more. A greeter is needed to be stationed at the front door and welcome people into the Celtic Fest.  They will also use a counter to keep attendance and assist people with information about the activities available at the Celtic Fest. A performer host is needed to greet performers as they enter the performer lounge and oversee the area.  March 9th from 10am-4pm. Volunteers shifts available: 9:30am-1:30pm, and 1pm-5pm at the Hjemkomst Center: 202 1st Ave N. Moorhead. 

*Youth Court Volunteer

Lutheran Social Services of North Dakota is looking for mature, responsible people between the ages of 13 to 18 years old.  Youth Court is an alternative to formal court proceeding for youth who have been charged with an offense or are showing concerning behavior.  As a Youth Court volunteer you will participate as courtroom personnel in decisions that help your community.  You have the opportunity to learn about the court system, gain valuable experience that can be used on college applications, serve as a positive role model, meet new friends and help your peers repair the harm that they have caused.  All volunteers must go through a 1 hour orientation prior to serving as a jury member on Youth Court and acquire 2 letters of recommendation from non-family members. Youth Court hearings are held every Thursday (year around) from 4-6pm at the NDSU Criminal Justice and Public Policy Building (1616 12th Ave N, Fargo). We ask that volunteers commit to attending 2 times a month but we are able to be flexible with your schedule on which dates you are able to participate.

Sheltering Churches Volunteers

The local shelters and churches need assistance to provide overflow shelter for people who are homeless.  Volunteers are needed to get the temporary church shelter ready for the evening by hosting, putting down mattresses, cleaning, and so forth.  To sign-up to volunteer, please visit http://shelteringchurches.wordpress.com. Thrift Store Retail Volunteer

Heartland Industries, Second Time Around Thrift Store is seeking individuals and older adults to volunteer. Duties will include working the cash register, providing customer service, accepting donations, sorting, pricing and bringing out new product. Volunteers must be 18 years of age or older. Volunteers are needed Monday through Friday from 10am-6pm. Training is provided.

Herbergers Goodwill Sale Volunteer

Easter Seals is in need of individuals, families, older adults, and small groups of 2 to help with the Herberger’s semi-annual Goodwill Sale at the Fargo and Moorhead Mall on March 13th through 30th. The volunteers will help greet each customer and graciously accept their donations of apparel or household textiles and in return will give the customer a Herberger’s coupon.  Each shift is 2 to 4 hours in length and various shifts are available throughout the day and evening, including the weekend. Hours will comply with mall hours.   

Conference Event Planner Volunteer

Fargo Police Department is looking for an individual to be a Conference Event Planner for the FBI NAA Retrainer Conference on August 10th through the 14th.  Prior event planning experience is a must.  Responsibilities include: Hotel arrangements for 80 at the Holiday Inn in Fargo, work to secure rooms, conference hall, meals, breaks, hospitality, etc., manage/arrange details to bring in 2-3 speakers in for two day period (contracts, lodging, and cost, etc.), solicit registrations and manage the process, contact law enforcement vendors for displays/door prizes and donations,  help secure after-hours events such as: Fargo Air Show on Sunday, RedHawks on Monday night and picnic, golf tournaments Tuesday, picnic and 5k run on Saturday, and a banquet on Tuesday night.  Track all expenses/revenue on excel spreadsheets.  You will work directly with Deputy Chief at the Fargo Police Department; you need to be available months before the event for planning, and be available the whole week prior to and during the event.
