*Youth Court Volunteer
Lutheran Social Services of North Dakota is looking for mature, responsible people between the ages of 13 to 18 years old. Youth Court is an alternative to formal court proceedings for youth who have been charged with an offense or are showing concerning behavior. As a Youth Court volunteer you will participate as courtroom personnel in decisions that help your community. You have the opportunity to learn about the court system, gain valuable experience that can be used on college applications, serve as a positive role model, meet new friends and help your peers repair the harm that they have caused. All volunteers must go through a 1-hour orientation prior to serving as a jury member on Youth Court and acquire 2 letters of recommendation from non-family members. Youth Court hearings are held every Thursday (year around) from 4-6pm at the NDSU Criminal Justice and Public Policy Building (1616 12th Ave N, Fargo). We ask that volunteers commit to attending 2 times a month but we are able to be flexible with your schedule on which dates you are able to participate.
