Emergency Department Clerk Volunteer

Department of Veterans Affairs is in need of individuals to help the Emergency Department in a high traffic fast-paced environment.  Volunteers in this position will assist nursing staff with the day-to-day functions of working in the Emergency Department.  Primary responsibilities will include answering phones, directing patients, escorting patients (involves pushing wheelchairs) to their hospital room upon admittance to the medical center and assisting nursing staff with various clerical tasks.  Monday through Friday from 12pm to 4pm.  Volunteers are asked to commit to at least one shift/week.  Volunteers must meet minimum federal volunteer requirements including a background check.

Resume Writer & Job Search Assistant

Cultural Diversity Resources is looking for individuals and older adults to help assist individuals and families from diverse backgrounds in job searching, which includes resume writing, online job applications, mock job interviews and other related duties to help them find stable employment.  Responsibilities and qualifications include: Assist clients in resume creation writing, application procedures (online and or paper applications), with online job seeking through various job searching online sites. Must possess clerical/administrative competence, be able to work well with individuals from diverse backgrounds, be competent in computer applications such as Microsoft Office, internet and email, and must be able to write and speak effectively and be a self-starter with good motivation and initiative.  Flexible work hours between 9am-5pm, Monday through Friday, duties will be performed at the Cultural Diversity Resource office.

Fargo Marathon Alzheimers Charity Lounge Attendant Volunteers

Alzheimer’s Association is in need of individuals, families, and small groups (2-6) to greet, secure gear and serve snacks to Alzheimer’s team runners. Saturday May 18th 7:00am to 3:00pm at the Fargodome.

Valley Metro Walk to End Alzheimer’s- Event Day Volunteers

Alzheimer’s Association is in need of individuals, families and small groups (2-6) to help with various opportunities available to assist event day: Registration, parking, traffic, refreshments, entertainment, signage and memory garden.  Saturday, September 21, Scheels Arena Fargo from 6:30am to noon.

Valley Metro Walk to End Alzheimers Committee Volunteer

Alzheimer’s Association is in need of individuals to attend a 1 hour monthly committee meeting to organize the Walk to End Alzheimer’s. Participate in subcommittee work and volunteer on event day. Committee meetings held over noon hour dates to be announced.  Walk to End Alzheimers is Saturday, September 21, 2013 at the Scheels Arena.

Alzheimer’s Association is in need of individuals, older adults, and youth-minimum age of 14 years old-to greet guest, answer the phone, take messages and transfer calls to appropriate staff members. Monday through Friday from 1pm-5pm at the Alzheimer’s Association Fargo office.  Someone may volunteer for 1 or more shifts per month.

Early Stage Meet Up Mentor

Alzheimer’s Associationis in need of individuals to organize monthly events, promote events and recruit attendees to the once a month social club for persons with early stage Alzheimer’s disease.  TBD in Fargo, requires a one year commitment.

Young Champions Board Volunteer

Alzheimer’s Association is in need of individuals and small groups (2-6) to volunteer as part of a diverse group of emerging leaders dedicated to changing the face of Alzheimer’s by engaging  peers and raising awareness, advocacy, education, volunteer fundraising and membership opportunities as well as PR and promotion opportunities. Flexible and requires a 1 year commitment.

Alzheimer’s Association is looking for individuals to help with support groups, professional and community education, care consultation, public policy advocacy, special events and resource development, and organizational leadership.  Flexible hours are available.

Health Fair Representative Volunteer

Alzheimer’s Association is looking for individuals and older adults to set up and take down Alzheimer’s Association display, and manage a booth at the event by distributing information.  Flexible hours are available in most ND communities.

Public Policy Advocate Volunteer

Alzheimer’s Association is in need of individuals, older adults, and families to take action to communicate with elected officials about Alzheimer’s issues, be a spokesperson at a public event, legislative hearing or the media, be willing to ask others to respond to issues and participate in policy-related events. Flexible, 1-4 hours per month, availability in all ND communities.

*Youth Court Volunteer

Lutheran Social Services of North Dakota is looking for mature, responsible people between the ages of 13 to 18 years old.  Youth Court is an alternative to formal court proceedings for youth who have been charged with an offense or are showing concerning behavior.  As a Youth Court volunteer you will participate as courtroom personnel in decisions that help your community.  You have the opportunity to learn about the court system, gain valuable experience that can be used on college applications, serve as a positive role model, meet new friends and help your peers repair the harm that they have caused.  All volunteers must go through a 1-hour orientation prior to serving as a jury member on Youth Court and acquire 2 letters of recommendation from non-family members. Youth Court hearings are held every Thursday (year around) from 4-6pm at the NDSU Criminal Justice and Public Policy Building (1616 12th Ave N, Fargo). We ask that volunteers commit to attending 2 times a month but we are able to be flexible with your schedule on which dates you are able to participate.

*Daily Operations Caring for Horses Volunteer

Hightail Rescue is in need of individuals, families, older adults, small groups (2-6), and youth-minimum age of 12 years old – to help with feeding, grooming and medical attention to rescued horses and small farm animals, and a variety of cleaning and barn management tasks.  Time needed is between 8am-9pm, 7 days a week.

Volunteer Driver

REACH is in need of individuals and older adults to drive clients to medical appointments and other appointments as approved.  The program runs from 8:00am till 2:30pm, and on-call.  Most of the clients live in Clay County.

Oral History Documenter

Bonanzaville is in need of an individual or small group to help record the stories of people with important connections to the historic buildings and artifacts that might otherwise be lost in time.  A volunteer (or small group) is needed to interview and record them with a voice recorder and video camera.  These recordings will be used in the village to make the displays more interactive. The schedule and time commitment will be based on the individual’s availability, and Bonanzaville has all needed equipment. 

Sheltering Churches Volunteers

The local shelters and churches need assistance to provide overflow shelter for people who are homeless.  Volunteers are needed to get the temporary church shelter ready for the evening by hosting, putting down mattresses, cleaning, and so forth.  To sign-up to volunteer, please visit http://shelteringchurches.wordpress.com. Thrift Store Retail Volunteer

Heartland Industries, Second Time Around Thrift Store is seeking individuals and older adults to volunteer. Duties will include working the cash register, providing customer service, accepting donations, sorting, pricing and bringing out new product. Volunteers must be 18 years of age or older. Volunteers are needed Monday through Friday from 10am-6pm. Training is provided.
