Cashier Volunteer

Jazzy & Mumbos is in need of individuals, families, and older adults to help open the store, run the cash register, and keep the store neat and clean.  This would be a long term opportunity.  Hours needed are from 9am-5pm.  More than 2 volunteers could be utilized if one needs to go or can’t stay for the whole shift.

 

*Fall Festival Volunteer

Fargo Park District is in need of individuals, families, older adults, small and large groups (2-30), and youth-minimum age of 15 years old on September 28th and 29th.  Volunteers would be helping at the straw bale maze, craft projects, carnival games, and other various positions.  Check-in for volunteers will be by the pumpkin patch and farm house at Rheault Farm.  Shifts available on Saturday: 9:30am-1:30pm and 1:00pm-5:30pm or Sunday: 11:30am-2:30pm and 2:00-5:30pm.


Manicure Volunteer

Home Appeal Adult Foster Care is in need of older adults and small groups (2-6) to give manicures to residents in the afternoon between 1pm-4pm on any day.

 

Homework Club Tutor

St. Joseph’s School is in need of individuals, older adults and small groups (2-6) to answer student’s questions and help them with their homework after school. Volunteers are needed every Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday from 2:45pm-4:00pm.  Weekly volunteers desired.

 

*Herbergers Goodwill Sale Volunteer

Easter Seals Goodwill ND, Inc. is in need of individuals, families, older adults, and youth-minimum age of 16 years old to help great each customer, and graciously accept their donations of apparel or household textiles.  In return for a customer’s donation, they will receive a Herberger’s coupon.  Each shift is 2-4 hours in length and various shifts are available throughout the day and evening, including weekends.  The Herberger’s semi-annual Goodwill Sale is taking place September 19th through October 5th at all Herberger’s locations: Bismarck, Minot, Fargo, and Moorhead.

Hospitality Support – Early Morning Volunteer

Essentia Health is in need of individuals, older adults and youth-minimum age of 18 years old.  Duties include greeting patients, families and visitors, delivering newspapers and daily/weekly memos to hospital and clinic departments, stocking the blanket warmers in the Emergency Department, attending to guest coffee pots in waiting areas and other duties as assigned. Requires ability to be on your feet for varied periods of time. Days and/or hours needed: Monday through Friday from 7:30am-10:30am.  This position may be taken by 5 individuals (one person each day).

 

Homelessness Education Conference Volunteer

FM Coalition Homeless Person’s is in need of individuals, older adults, and small groups (2-6) to help register participants, assist the keynote speaker, help set up food, greet and guide attendees.  This event will be held on November 12th and 13th, times vary depending on the volunteer opportunity.


Outreach Volunteer

Fargo Public Library is in need of individuals, older adults, and small groups (2-6) to provide library materials and services to homebound individuals who are unable to come to the library.  By giving just a few hours twice a month to take library materials to a book-crazy bunch of seniors, you can be someone’s hero!  Training will be provided and a commitment of 2 days per month is needed.


Dress for Success Clothing Specialist

REACH is in need of individuals to find proper attire for a woman who is seeking or has gained employment.  Flexible times are available.


Patient Care Volunteer

Hospice Red River Valley is in need of individuals to provide companionship, light housekeeping, friendly visiting, to reminisce, play cards, and share coffee with patients who are receiving hospice care. Times are flexible depending on patient needs and volunteer availability.


Meal Delivery Volunteers

Valley Senior Services is in need of volunteers to assist with Meals on Wheels Delivery in West Fargo. Volunteers deliver the meals to homebound elderly in our community. Meals are delivered for the noon meal Monday through Friday out of the West Fargo high-rise. It is about a one-hour time commitment each week.

 

 *Jingle Bell Run/Walk Volunteers

Arthritis Foundation is looking for individuals, older adults, small groups (2-6), and youth-minimum age of 16 years old-to volunteer at the Jingle Bell Run/Walk 5K. The Jingle Bell Run/Walk is an annual event that raise awareness and funds for arthritis.  Volunteers are needed to help with registration, course monitors, refreshments, event set up/tear down and awards.


Big Brothers/Big Sisters Mentor

Big Brothers Big Sisters is in need of individuals to meet with a “Little Brothers/Sisters” every 1-2 weeks, doing a variety of activities that they choose together. Community-Based Big Brothers/Sisters meets with their Little Brothers/Sisters out in the community doing activities; School-Based Big Brothers/Sisters meets with their Little Brothers/Sisters one hour per week on-site at the Little’s School.  Days and times are flexible. School-Based Big Brothers/Sisters meets one hour per week during the school year at Madison Elementary School; Community-Based Big Brothers/Sisters meets 2-4 hours at least every other week.


*Youth Court Volunteer

Lutheran Social Services of North Dakota is looking for mature, responsible people between the ages of 13 and 18 years old to serve in the Youth Court. Youth Court is an alternative to formal court proceeding for youth who have been charged with an offense or are showing concerning behavior.  As a Youth Court volunteer you will participate as courtroom personnel in decisions that help your community.  You will have the opportunity to learn about the court system, gain valuable experience that can be used on college applications, serve as a positive role model, meet new friends and help your peers repair the harm that they have caused.  All volunteers must go through a 1 hour orientation prior to serving as a jury member on Youth Court and acquire 2 letters of recommendation from non-family members.  Youth Court hearings are held every Thursday (year-round) from 4:00pm-6:00pm at the NDSU Criminal Justice and Public Policy Building (1616 123th Ave N. Fargo). We ask that volunteers commit to attending 2 times a month but we are able to be flexible with your schedule on which dates you are able to participate.
