General Maintenance and Upkeep Volunteer

Bonanzaville is looking for  individuals, older adults small groups, Youth-Minimum age of 18 years old with specific talents to help our facilities team with the upkeep of our village.  We are looking for people with skills in carpentry, electrical, plumbing, engines, roofing, painting buildings, etc.  Please contact us during regular business hours for more information.  Bonanzaville is located at 1351 West Main Ave, West Fargo, North Dakota. 

 

Companions for Children Volunteer

Companions for Children is in need of individuals to become youth mentors.  Requirements: Must be at least 18 years old, pass screening, and be able to spend at least 4 hours per month with a youth.  Location is in Minot, North Dakota.

 

Staining decks and steps Volunteers

The Perry Center is in need of individuals, families, small and large groups (2-20) to help with staining the decks and steps in apartment complexes.  We are wanting to get this project started ASAP.  This project can be done at night or on weekends if needed. 

 

*Walk of Hope Volunteers

FirstLink is in need of individuals, families, small groups (2-6) and youth-minimum age of 16 to help set up for the event, register participants and help with activities.  The Walk of Hope will be held on September 7th.  Volunteers are needed from 1pm-3:30pm.

 

*Red River Youth for Christ Peach Season

Red River Youth for Christ is in need of individuals, families, older adults, small groups (2-6 on Wednesday through Friday) Large Groups(20 first Tuesday of each week) and youth-minimum age of 15 years old to help preparing peaches for distribution, inserting information in boxes, carrying peaches to vehicles and cashiers.

 

Booth Volunteer

FirstLink is in need of individuals, families and older adults to represent FirstLink at various booths in the community.  Time commitment is typically 2-4 hours per booth.  Booths are typically in the evenings and on weekends; some weekday booths maybe available.

 

Mentor in the Reach & Rise Program

YMCA of Cass and Clay Counties is in need of individuals for their mentor programs.  Volunteer mentors are matched with a young person, age 6-17 years old, for one year to provide one-to-one mentoring services and create safe, healthy and meaningful relationships with youth.  Mentors meet with their mentee once a week for 1-3 hours and participate in activities of their choice.

 

Heartwarmers

Ronald McDonald House Charities of the Red River Valley is in need of compassionate, caring and unique individuals to assist RMHC-RRV staff, volunteers, and families in a variety of ways on a regular basis.  Heartwarmers help to create a supportive and comfortable atmosphere for families by assisting with day/evening operations of the house. We ask Heartwarmers to come once a week with day, evening and weekend availabilities that fit your schedule.  Heartwarmers are the backbone of the RMHC-RRV and we are excited to welcome new volunteers.

 

Senior Companion

Lutheran Social Services Senior Companions is in need of Older Adults (55+ years) to provide companionship (coffee & conversation), social recreation and help with non-medical daily living activities (e.g. grocery shopping, sorting mail, light meal prep) to older adult men and women who are homebound, lonely, isolated, frail or disabled. Volunteer benefits include hourly stipend, paid holidays, paid time off, travel reimbursement and flexible scheduling.

 

Manicure Volunteer

Home Appeal Adult Foster Care is in need of older adults and small groups (2-6) to give manicures to residents in the afternoon between 1pm-3pm on any day.


Project English

RSVP+ Southern Valley is in need of individuals, families, older adults, small groups 2-6 and youth minimum age 18 to help new Americans learn English with Rosetta stone software, practice conversational and Basic English language skills with New American students (adults). Project English classes run at various locations and times. They are; Fargo Adult Learning center at Agassiz

Monday-Thursday 11:30am – 12:30pm and 2:30pm-3:30pm, Moorhead Adult Basic Education

Monday-Thursday anytime between 8:30am- 4:00pm and Fridays from 8:30am-12pm, Charism Family Center on Thursday evenings and Holiday Inn Fargo on Saturday mornings from 9:00am-10:00am.

 

M.O.M’s Program Volunteer

The Salvation Army is in need of individuals, large groups 6-10, older adults and small groups 2-6 to help serve lunch to children in 3 different low income areas, clean up after the meal and interact with the children from Monday-Friday during summer months.


Membership Coordinator and Docent

Spirit Room is in need of individuals and older adults to take an active interest in the FM Arts community maintain membership and donation records, generate membership correspondence as requested, update membership database and serve as docent to answer phones, greet visitors and provide assistance as needed with mailing, paperwork and office organization. Wednesday afternoons from 1pm to 5pm for about 4 hours of time each week located at 111 Broadway in Downtown Fargo.

 

Archivist and Docent

Spirit Room is in need of individuals and older adults to take an active interest in the FM Arts community, record Spirit room events, art shows and concerts in Archives Data Base, compile documents, posters and related materials into master files and notebooks, maintain a running account of events and serve as docent to answer phones, greet visitors and provide assistance as needed with mailing, paperwork and office organization. Friday afternoons from 1pm to 5pm for about 4 hours of time each week located at 111 Broadway in Downtown Fargo.

 

Mentors

Big Brothers Big Sisters is in need of men who are willing to be a friend and mentor to a young person in need of a positive influence in their life. Involves spending time hanging out at least a couple of times a month.

 

*Coffee Shop

Bethany Retirement Living is in need of individuals, older adults, families, small groups of 2, and youth-minimum age of 16 years old or younger with an adult to volunteer in the coffee shop on the weekends.  Saturdays: 12:30-4pm, Sundays: 12:30pm-4:00pm at 201 South University Drive location.

 

Get set and go stylists

Bethany Retirement Living is in need of individuals or small groups (2-6) who are willing and able to fix hair, to set and or curl with curling iron residents who do not go to the beauty shop.  Do not need a Beautician license.  Could also paint nails.  Mornings 9am-12pm every/any day of the week.  At 201 South University Drive location.

 

Assistant to Beauty Shop

Bethany Retirement Living is in need of individuals to assistance taking residents to and from the Beauty Shop, gathering a schedule of appointments, organizing schedule, going to units to notify the residents of their appointment, transporting the resident by wheelchair to the beauty shop and back to their rooms.  Monday through Friday from 9am-12pm, could do one to one visits during down times. At the 201 South University Drive location.

 

Road to Recovery Driver

American Cancer Society is looking for individuals, 18 year old and older adults to provide rides to patients who have no way to get to their cancer treatment.  Volunteer drivers donate their time and the use of their cars to get patients to and from the treatment they need.  All drivers are trained by the American Cancer Society.  Drivers need a current valid driver’s license, a good driving record, a safe and reliable car and proof of car insurance.  This program requires a one-year commitment but has flexible hours and will work with your availability!

 

REACH Food Pantry Office Support

The REACH office in Hawley is in need of volunteers for Office support to assist clients with our Food Pantry on Mondays & Thursdays between 1pm-4pm.  Any help with one or both of these days for any amount of time would be greatly appreciated.

 

Support Group Facilitator

Alzheimer’s Association is looking for an individual to facilitate an existing support group for those caring for a person with younger-onset Alzheimer’s.  The person they care for is a loved one who is under 65 years of age and has dementia. The support group meets the 2nd Tuesday of each month from 6:30-800pm at 2631 12th Ave S, Fargo.

 

Dress for Success Boutique Merchandiser

Dress for Success Red River Valley is in need of volunteers to assist with sorting clothing donations and organizing the Boutique. Flexible hours are available.


Roof Repair Volunteers

Rebuilding Together Fargo-Moorhead Area is in need of individuals, older adults, or small and large groups (2-12) to help with roof repairs to homes.  These are elderly people; many are veterans and/or widows who live on a fixed income. They want to stay in their homes, but don’t have the money to fix the roof.  We are looking for both a house captain who has expertise in this area and people willing to serve on a crew.  You are also needed if you don’t have this skill set as there are needs regarding site cleanup.

 

Cashier Volunteer

Jazzy & Mumbos a thrift store where the proceeds go to animal aid, is in need of individuals, families, or older adults to help open the store, run the cash register, and keep the store neat and clean. This would be a long term opportunity.  Hours needed are from 9am-12:30pm, Volunteers are also needed one or two days in the afternoon from 12:00pm-4:30pm.  Flexible times and days are available.

 

Patient Care Volunteer

Hospice Red River Valley is in need of individuals to provide companionship, light housekeeping, friendly visiting, to reminisce, play cards, and share coffee with patients who are receiving hospice care. Times are flexible depending on patient needs and volunteer availability.


Meal Delivery Volunteers

Valley Senior Services is in need of volunteers to assist with Meals on Wheels Delivery in West Fargo. Volunteers deliver the meals to homebound elderly in our community. Meals are delivered for the noon meal Monday through Friday out of the West Fargo high-rise. It is about a one-hour time commitment each week.


*Youth Court Volunteer

Lutheran Social Services of North Dakota is looking for mature, responsible people between the ages of 12 and 18 years old to serve on the Youth Court jury. Youth Court is an alternative to formal court proceedings for youth who have been charged with an offense or are showing concerning behavior.  As a Youth Court volunteer you will participate as courtroom personnel and make decisions that help your community and your peers.  As a volunteer you will also have the opportunity to learn about the court system, gain valuable experience that can be used on college applications, serve as a positive role model, meet new friends and help your peers repair the harm that they have caused.  All volunteers must go through a 1 hour orientation prior to serving as a jury member on Youth Court and acquire 2 letters of recommendation from non-family members.  Youth Court hearings are held every Thursday (year-round) from 4:00pm-6:00pm at the Lutheran Social Services Program Center (4720 7th Ave S, Suite B). We ask that volunteers commit to attending 2 times a month but we are able to be flexible with your schedule on which dates you are able to participate.
